What Are Markers? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Markers have a separate timeline in Pro Tools, similar to Bars|Beats, Minutes:Seconds, etc. However, Markers places a marker inside Pro Tools and helps you separate and organize your song based on category, such as verse, chorus, second verse, bridge, solo, etc. Markers essentially break up your song into chunks so you can navigate the project better and jump from one marker to another. How to Create a Marker --------------------------------------------------------------------- To create a Marker, all you have to do is make sure the play marker is where you want it to be and press Enter on the keyboard (not Return but Enter next to the numeric numpad). This brings up the New Memory Location dialog box. Another way is to make sure the play marker is where you want it to be and click the small plus sign next to Markers in the top left corner. Name your new marker according to what part of the song it represents on your timeline. To add another Marker, place the play marker at the spot where you want to create the Marker and press Enter next to the numpad. If you have a full keyboard with the number pad on the right you can also hit (.) the marker number the (.) again to move quickly.
