@DelMarSportsCamp
Hey guy, yes, code requires two layers of paper. I have gone over a few homes where TyvVk is the first layer. Usually installed by the home owner. I, as a rule always apply two more layers on top of the TyVek. I buy the spot glued double felt paper as its just as easy to lay on top as single ply and some cities wont classify the TyVek as one. I like to play it safe and not get beat up with a technicality.
Have a nice evening.

Great video. I have a question - is that double felt tar paper under the chicken wire layer that you need to put on before you stucco? Also can you stucco over TyVek? Or do you need tar paper over TyVek before you can stucco?

If you’re going to do a how-to video, get some decent audio, a steady camera and some fucking light.

@StuccoPlastering Hey Kirk,try one portland bag,3.5 cups of lime,5 buckets of sand(22 shovels full)+plastisizing agent.

I get about 190-220 sq ft and its good mud to work with.

Cheers,Gabe.

They should of just knocked off the wall and started fresh. Looks like half the wall is the patch. Cheap home owners.

No problem, I am an expert with a Darby, 3 of my first years in the union I worked behind a gun. The company I worked for would spray at least 4 to 11 homes daily depending on whether we were scratching or browning, I would be the lead Darby man or in many instances the only one. I did this for over 3 years straight. 40 hours a week. You eat like a horse and become amazing good with a Darby. It ’s also one of the most physical jobs in the plastering industry.

Easy, Asparrow, All ignorance is, is not knowing the answer to some questions. I am ignorant in many things. Fortunately, since I explain and demonstrate how to apply stucco, my ignorance is not in the stucco field.
Besides what good is filling your head with general knowledge when you can go to Google, type in the question and it will give you the answer ten different ways?

StuccoPlastering December 27, 2011 at 3:47 pm

when I am applying certain types of skip trowel finishes I will sometimes take it off the top. but at the risk of sounding arrogant I can pull it off the top, bottom or the sides. I can also use either hand to hold my hawk and both my right or left hand to trowel with. Thanks for the response.

@ron1martens
I always were a belt, it helps so I won’t hurt my back. Just a precautionary measure.

ron1martens December 27, 2011 at 7:20 pm

@StuccoPlastering Thankyou for your reply. I found them on Marshalltown online. I see you wear a back brace. Is there extra strain on your back.

StuccoPlastering December 27, 2011 at 7:51 pm

@ron1martens
you can buy these cheaters at Westside building formally know as Alta building supply located in Oakland. Westside calls them cheaters but I have heard about ten different names for this tool.
Your right you would think it needs handles but after you use it, you feel the need to use it as is. Just grab the edges. I suggest wearing gloves as the ones I am wearing as they are waterproof.
Best wishes, and thanks for the question, Kirk giordano

ron1martens December 27, 2011 at 8:00 pm

Firstly well done for uploading a video. A cheater? Never seen one of them. What are the properties of the mortar? Standard sand cement lime? If the cheater could somehow have hand grips on the side so you don’t get mortar on your hands. The video doesn’t show how flexible the cheater is. I like the scratcher. I normally find myself some tin and cut angles to a point like a comb with tin snips.
